This irrigation water path was made from the order of Masamune Date, a regional strongman. At that time, the irrigation water was used for domestic and industrial uses. After Meiji Period (1855-1908), the use of the irrigation water decreased, from the development of water and sewer services. After Showa Period (1926-1989), the arrival of cars made waterways to go underground, making it disappear from the surface.
