Opened in 1981, the Miyagi Museum of Art axhibited 3,738 pieces of art, centering on work mainly from Tohoku but also from overseas artists. There are regular and special exhibitions held few times a year, with workshops where the staff support work creation. Lectures are also held, aiming at an open art museum where art and everything that is connected to it can be experienced.
