  • The museum was founded in 1961 to store, exhibit, and study the documents donated by the Date Family. There are national treasures of the materials related to Japanese envoy to Europe in the Keicho Era including the Hasekura Tsunenaga statue and 3 others, registered as the UNESCO Memory of the World. There are also armors and battle coat that Masamune Date used, registered as an important cultural property. It exhibits 90 thousand documents, historical and cultural items that have been collected.
